I watched Circus of Fear for the first time today and realised Skip’s voice was identical to Max Wall. Further checks revealed they were born within 30 minutes of each other…Stockwell/ Sydenham and both were heavy smokers.
Hi Stewart, thanks for the comment. I’ll have to check out Max Wall’s voice again, it’s been a long time, but from memory they’re not far off. (I do wonder at Robin Askwith’s memory re the filming of Horror Hospital – he recalls Skip having a speech impediment, which I find pretty unlikely on the filmed evidence.) Could I ask? How do you know Skip was a heavy smoker? It’s a sound assumption given the era – and he did apparently work in a tobacconists, but I’ve not read anything myself to suggest he smoked heavily. I wonder if you’ve come across biographical info that I haven’t? Forever fishing ….
